ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T had two members of its men’s soccer team – junior David Kekec and sophomore Pat McNamee – named Thursday to the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s all-league team for the 2009 season.
Kekec was named to the second team after recording a goal and a team-high four assists during the 2009 campaign. He stabilized the midfield spot for the Miners after transferring to the team from Saint Louis University.
McNamee, last year’s GLVC “Freshman of the Year”, finished the regular season with a 0.98 goals against average in 14 games with 52 saves and four shutouts. McNamee owns the fifth-best goals against mark in the conference to earn his selection to the third team.
Missouri S&T also received an academic award, as junior defender Kenny Gravlin was selected to the Academic All-District second team for the 2009 season. Gravlin has been a key member of the Miner defense that has allowed the Miners to hold their opponents to less than a goal per game on the year.
The Miners, who finished 7-5-1 in the GLVC and currently own a 7-6-1 overall mark, will play at Northern Kentucky Sunday in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament.
