Jordan Henry eclipsed the Missouri S&T outdoor school record in the pole vault Friday and was rewarded for his efforts today by being named as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's "Athlete of the Week."

Henry, a junior from St. Charles, Mo. (Francis Howell North) cleared 16-8 to win the competition Friday at Missouri Southern and earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Championships next month in Pomona, Calif. Henry was the national runner-up during the NCAA Indoor Championships last month.

He will enter the GLVC Championships this weekend as the top-ranked pole vaulter in the conference with the mark he established last week. Henry won the GLVC indoor title in the event and will look to add the outdoor title at the meet that will take place at Southern Illinois Edwardsville beginning Friday.

It is the third time during the 2007-08 track season season that Henry has been awarded by the GLVC. He earned his two previous weekly awards during the indoor season.
