Thomas McCormick's big week for the Missouri S&T baseball team has landed him the Great Lakes Valley Conference's "Player of the Week" award for the games played over the past week.

McCormick, a junior outfielder from Kingwood, Texas, hit .571 in six S&T contests -- four of which were won by the Miners -- with three home runs and 14 runs batted in. Six of his 12 hits on the week were for extra bases (two doubles and a triple were included) and he also scored seven times.

He was four-of-eight in a doubleheader sweep over Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday, which included a game-winning two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the 6-5 win. He followed that effort with a six-for-seven day Saturday at Drury as the Miners recorded another sweep.

On Saturday, McCormick hit two home runs and drove in five during the course of the 16-4 game one victory. He also drove in a run in the nightcap and then drove in two in each of Sunday's games against the Panthers, including his third home run of the weekend.

McCormick, who leads the Miners with 33 runs batted in on the season, has driven in at least one run in each of S&T's last eight games. He is hitting .311 on the season.

The Miners will play host to Missouri Southern in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday starting at noon.
