Missouri S&T's Tamara McCaskill was a two-time selection as the Great Lakes Valley Conference "Player of the Week" duiring the 2007-08 basketball season -- and now she has earned a similar honor in track and field.
McCaskill was named as the GLVC's "Athlete of the Week" for the field events in track and field after tying the school record in the high jump with a performance that also made the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
She cleared the bar at 5-7 during the Alabama Relays over the weekend to finish second in the event. Her metric mark of 1.70 meters exceeded the provisional standard of 1.68 meters in the event as she took second to South Alabama's Nicole Knox.
The Lady Miners will compete this weekend at the Big Bear Invitational at Missouri State University in Springfield.
