Missouri S&T had two of its pole vaulters reach the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in its first outdoor meet of the season Friday and those performances have landed each of them the Great Lakes Valley Conference "Athlete of the Week" award.

Jared Anders, who cleared 16-2 3/4 to win the pole vault competition at Washington University and Taylor Hahn, who set the women's school record at 11-9 3/4 in the same meet, were honored by the GLVC Tuesday for their efforts.

Anders, a junior from Quincy, Ill., cleared the same height at Washington University as he did a week earlier in the process of finishing seventh at the NCAA Divison II Indoor Championships. His mark of 16-2 3/4 was good enough to make the provisional mark and win the competition in the meet.

Hahn also reached the provisional standard in a winning performance as she broke her own school record by two inches. A junior from Salem, Ill., Hahn was competing for the first time since winning the GLVC indoor title in the pole vault.

The Miners and Lady Miners will compete this weekend in the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
