BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Miners had five top 10 finishes Friday on the opening day of the Indiana Relays, including a second place showing by pole vaulter Jordan Henry.

Henry cleared 16-0 3/4 to finish as the runner-up in the event to unattached performer Kevin Schipper and improved his NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the process. He was joined in the top 10 by teammate Jared Anders, who went over the bar at 15-7 to tie his best mark of the season for a seventh place finish.

Joffroi Holcombe placed sixth in the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:47.02, while Allen Ernst came in ninth in that event with a mark of 8:51.77.

The last top 10 finish came from Brandon Etzold in the 800-meters as he finished in that spot in 1:56.77, narrowly missing Saturday's finals in that event. The time was his best of the year in that event.

Ian Packard ran a seasonal-best time in two events, posting marks of 50.61 in the 400-meters and 22.62 in the 200-meters. Peter Hollenbeck had a 12th place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 15-1.

Brett Vessell had a time of 7.36 seconds in the 60-meters while Michael Wilson ran the event in 7.65 seconds. Brendan Smith posted a time of 4:26.79 in the mile.

The meet concludes Saturday.
