WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Missouri S&T saw two of its pole vaulters reach the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard Friday night during the competition at the Central Missouri Classic.
Taylor Hahn and Jaime Statler both cleared the 11-5 3/4 mark -- breaking the school record in the process -- to become the first Lady Miners this season to reach an NCAA qualifying standard. Hahn finished third in the event Friday while Statler placed fourth.
Two other pole vaulters, Leah Moreland and Sarah Zaremba, also recorded top 10 finishes as Moreland was fifth at 10-6 and Zaremba placed eighth with that same clearance.
The only other S&T competitor in action Friday, Kierra Handley, finished seventh in the 800-meters with a mark of 2:23.87.
The Lady Miners will take part in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships March 1 in Crawfordsville, Ind.
