EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Miner basketball team overcame a sluggish start in the first half Thursday night, but a run by Southern Illinois Edwardsville in the second half sent Missouri S&T to an 81-62 defeat at the Vadalabene Center.

The Cougars scored the first 14 points of the game, as Taurance Townsel’s basket at the 14:59 mark ended the scoring drought. The Miners then proceeded the spend the next several minutes whittling away at the lead, getting it down to three at 24-21 before SIUE took a 38-31 lead to the locker room.

S&T trailed 43-36 after a three-pointer by Curtis Mosley with 17:21 to go, but consecutive threes by T.J. Gray allowed the Cougars to extend their lead to 13 over the next 39 seconds. SIUE would get the lead to the 20-point mark in the next five minutes.

The Miners were led in scoring by Marquis Jones with 16 points and Curtis Mosley with 13. S&T finished the night shooting just 37 percent from the floor to SIUE's 52.6 percent. S&T did made 16-of-17 from the free throw line.

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- In danger of seeing its winning streak fall one game short of the school record, the Missouri S&T women's basketball team used a surge over the final 14 minutes of the game to secure a 67-60 victory Thursday at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Down 46-37 in the second half, the Lady Miners outscored SIUE 28-14 over the final 14 minutes to win for the tenth straight time and for the 15th time in 17 games. S&T tied the school record for the longest winning streak -- set by the 1986-87 Lady Miners -- with the tenth win in succession and is 15-2 for the first time in the program's history.

S&T opened the game by scoring on its first two possessions of the night, but then went into a drought that lasted over five minutes which allowed the Cougars to take a lead they would hold for the duration of the half.

Katie Bunge’s basket at the 4:24 mark drew the Lady Miners back to within three after SIUE had been up by nine, but the hosts – who shot 44.8 percent in the first half – pushed the lead back out to six at 35-29 by the intermission.

The Cougars pushed the lead back to nine in the first five minutes of the second half after a pair of free throws by Amy Austin, but a three-pointer by Chism McEntire and back-to-back treys by Lauren Dubbert, the last at the 12:03 mark, drew the Lady Miners even at 46.

S&T then got its first lead since the early going 35 seconds later on a layin by Katie McElrath, then extended the scoring run to 14 when McEntire hit another three.

SIUE tied the score on a basket by Amber Shelton and a three by Whitney Sykes, but a putback by Dubbert at the 8:12 mark put S&T back in front.

Dubbert’s basket, which made it 53-51, started the Lady Miners’ decisive 12-2 run, which saw the lead end up at 63-53 after McElrath hit two free throws at the 2:29 mark.

McEntire led the Lady MIners with 17 points, while Dubbert had 13 points off the bench. Bunge had 12 points and 14 rebounds for her third straight double-double and Tamara McCaskill had 11 points in her return to her hometown.

The Lady Miners will play at Quincy Saturday in a 5:15 p.m. contest. Quincy (12-6, 7-3 GLVC) knocked off Missouri-St. Louis 92-78 Thursday night.

The Missouri S&T softball team, a few months removed from its first appearance ever at the NCAA Division II Tournament, has been picked to finish third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the upcoming 2008 season.

The Lady Miners, who finished third in both the regular season race and conference tournament a year ago in the GLVC, were picked behind only defending NCAA Division II champion Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Lewis, the two teams that finished ahead of them in the league standings last season.

The Lady Miners split two games with SIUE and won three of four from Lewis a year ago, including a victory in the opening round of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

S&T was 29-18 a year ago and returns a large portion of that team, including All-America second baseman Kandi Wieberg, the GLVC's "Player of the Year" in 2007, all-region outfielder Emily Tucker and honorable mention all-GLVC pitcher Jen O'Hara.

The Lady Miners will open the 2008 season Feb. 22 at the Charger Chillout in Huntsville, Ala., against Alabama-Huntsville. S&T's first GLVC contest will take place March 14 at Drury.

bunge-vs-nku.jpg
Katie Bunge

For the second week in succession, a Lady Miner basketball player has earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference's "Player of the Week" award as Katie Bunge was named today as the recipient of the weekly honor.

Bunge, a senior forward from Mexico, Mo., posted double-doubles in both Missouri S&T wins last week to keep the Lady Miners atop the GLVC West Division. She posted 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds in S&T's 76-65 victory over Bellarmine, then had a game-high 17 points and 12 boards to help lead the Lady Miners to a 66-42 victory Saturday over 14th-ranked Northern Kentucky.

Bunge also added a blocked shot in Thursday's win over Bellarmine, while adding to her stat line with an assist and three steals in the win over NKU. She was also a part of a strong defensive effort by the Lady Miners last week, as they held the two opponents to under 33 percent from the field, including a combined 27.1 percent mark in the second half of the contests.

Last week, S&T's Tamara McCaskill earned the conference's weekly honor after the Lady Miner victories at Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis.

Missouri S&T returns to action Thursday at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Big second half leads S&T to rout of No. 14 Norse

bunge-vs-nku.jpg
Katie Bunge

As the university was evolving into its new identity as Missouri S&T, the campus did a "Hello" campaign to introduce the new name to the world.

On Saturday, the Missouri S&T women's basketball team had an announcement of its own -- that it plans to be a part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and regional races for the duration.

Trailing 23-22 at the half, the Lady Miners made their statement in 20 minutes of playing time as they outscored No. 14-ranked Northern Kentucky 44-19 in the second half and blasted the Norse 66-42 at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

The victory, the ninth in succession for S&T, came as a result of its 66.7 percent shooting in the second half and a defensive effort that saw it hold the Norse to just 32.6 percent for the day and force 27 turnovers.

After a sluggish start to the game on both sides -- neither team made a field goal in the first 4:21 -- the Lady Miners captured their first lead at 7-5 on a fast break layup by Jaime Forsberg at the 12:50 mark. Northern took the lead back a few moments later on a three-pointer by Jessie Slack, but Chism McEntire answered with a three at the other end on S&T's next trip down the floor.

The Lady Miners built that lead to eight points, but the Norse came back and took the lead right before the intermission on a steal and lay-in by Danyelle Echoles.

But once the second half started, it was all Lady Miners.

Tamara McCaskill's layup just seconds into the half put S&T back in front 24-23 and the lead reached double figures after a basket by McEntire at the 15:11 mark made it 37-27. Katie Bunge's three-pointer nearly two minutes later pushed the advantage to 13 and the Norse never got closer than 10 after that.

Bunge posted a double-double for the second straight game with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. S&T also got 11 points apiece from McCaskill and McEntire -- who hit three of the Lady Miners' seven treys in the contest. Katie McElrath added nine points, eight rebounds and a career-high eight assists in the the Lady Miners' first-ever win over the Norse in six tries.

Slack led the Norse with 11 points, but the Lady Miners held NKU's Angela Healy to six points and three rebounds after she entered the game averaging a double-double for the year.

S&T, 14-2 overall and 8-1 in the GLVC West Division, maintained its one-game lead over Drury with Saturday's win. It will return to action Thursday when it travels to Edwardsville, Ill., to take on Southern Illinois Edwardsville in a 5:30 p.m. contest. SIUE (13-4, 6-3 GLVC) beat Southern Indiana 73-70 Saturday in Evansville.

Miners taken down by Northern's long-range game

Northern Kentucky entered Saturday's game leading the Great Lakes Valley Conference in three-pointers per game and used that weapon to send the Miners to an 84-53 loss at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

The Norse, who hold the lead in the GLVC East Division, connected 16 times from beyond the arc Saturday. That was enough to pull away from the Miners, who were within eight at the intermission but saw the Norse ouscored them 17-4 in the first 10 minutes after the break.

Missouri S&T trailed for the bulk of the first half -- its largest lead was three in the early going -- but was able to stay within reach of NKU as it shot 48.1 percent in the opening half. Aaron Hays' three-pointer at the 5:14 mark pulled S&T to within one at 28-27, but a basket by Vincent Humphrey and a three-pointer by Anthony Teague extended the margin.

NKU entered the game with an average of 9.8 three-pointers per game and hit eight in each half.

The Miners had four players in double figures, led by Curtis Mosley with 14 points. S&T also got 12 points from Hays, 11 from Marquis Jones and 10 from Justin Taylor. The Miners finished the day shooting 41.5 percent from the field and hit five of their 12 three-point attempts.

S&T (3-14, 0-9 GLVC) will return to action Thursday when it plays at Southern Illinois Edwardsville in a 7:30 p.m. game.

Front line propels Lady Miners to eighth win in succession

bunge-vs-bell.jpg
Katie Bunge

Prior to Thursday night’s game with Bellarmine, the Lady Miners had just one double-double all season. By getting two such performances in one night, Missouri S&T was able to get a big conference victory as it knocked off Bellarmine 76-65 at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

The Lady Miners got 19 points and 10 rebounds from the reigning Great Lakes Valley Conference “Player of the Week”, Tamara McCaskill, while getting 13 points and 13 boards from Katie Bunge. Add to that the 13 points and eight rebounds by Katie McElrath as well as seven blocked shots from the trio and S&T was able to extend its winning streak to eight games.

S&T never trailed Thursday, jumping out to a 10-2 lead in the first five minutes of play after a three-pointer by Chism McEntire. The lead was at 17-8 before the Knights ran off nine straight points to draw even, but Bunge’s layup 32 seconds after Bellarmine knotted the score put S&T up to stay.

The lead reached 10 on two occasions in the half before S&T settled for a six-point lead at the break. The Knights were down by four with just under 15 minutes to play when a three-pointer by Josie Polk started a surge that eventually saw the Lady Miners push their lead to as many as 16 points over a span of 6:35.

After shooting just 38.9 percent in the opening half, the GLVC’s top shooting team connected on 11-of-18 in the second half (61.1 percent) while holding the Knights to 27.3 percent after the intermission. The Lady Miners finished the night at 46.3 percent and outrebounded Bellarmine 41-37.

The victory improved the Lady Miners to 13-2 on the season and a GLVC West-leading 7-1 heading into Saturday’s 1 p.m. showdown with No. 14 Northern Kentucky at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. NKU suffered a 56-51 upset loss Thursday at Missouri-St. Louis.

The Miners ran into a buzzsaw Thursday night, as Bellarmine shot 63.6 percent from the field to knock off Missouri S&T 83-58 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

S&T had an early lead in the contest, as Justin Taylor's two free throws at the 9:27 mark put the Miners up 15-14. The Knights regained the lead, but the Miners drew even at 23 after a Curtis Mosley three-pointer with
5:50 left in the opening half.

However, Bellarmine rattled off 13 straight points from that moment to take control of the contest. After Mosley’s three, the Knights got consecutive three-pointers from Adam Brames, Justin Benedetti and Kevin Allen to spark a 20-5 finish to the first half and give Bellarmine a 43-28 lead.

The Miners hit just 34.8 percent of their shots in the opening half and finished the contest at 36.7 percent. Meanwhile, the Knights hit exactly two-thirds of their attempts in the first 20 minutes to build the big lead.

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Miner basketball team overcame a Lewis run to open the game and was in the contest at halftime – but couldn’t rally from the Flyers’ outburst to begin the second half and dropped a 78-54 decision Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

After spotting Lewis the first eight points of the game, the Miners rallied and took their first lead at 14-13 when Owain Hall knocked down a jumper at the 10:47 mark. S&T had a 19-17 advantage after Aaron Hays drained a three-pointer out of the corner a little over two minutes later, but the Flyers scored the next 10 points to match their biggest lead at 27-19.

S&T was able to claw back to within five by the intermission, trailing 35-30 at the break following two Andrew James free throws just before the break.

But when the second half began, the Flyers put together another run at the start, this time a 14-point outburst in the first 2:30 that extended their lead to 19 at 49-30 before a Lucas Walls layup halted the run at the 17:06 mark.

Lewis eventually pushed the lead beyond the 20-point mark to the final margin of 24.

Curtis Mosley, playing before a number of family members and friends from nearby Chicago, led the Miners with 17 points while Taurance Townsel had 13. S&T shot just 37.5 percent for the game while Lewis hit 61.3 percent after the intermission to finish at 50.8 percent for the game.

The Miners (3-12, 0-7 GLVC) will host Bellarmine Thursday in a 7:30 p.m. game at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

Lady Miners' win streak at seven after victory at Lewis

mccaskill-vs-lewis.jpg

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- It may have been a little nerve-racking in the final moments, but the Missouri S&T women’s basketball team got a big road victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday by knocking off Lewis 67-60 in Neil Carey Arena.

With the win, the Lady Miners extended their winning streak to seven games -- their longest winning streak since the start of the 1995-96 season when they won their first nine games. More importantly, the victory will keep S&T atop the standings by themselves in the GLVC West Division.

The Lady Miners had one of their best halves of the season in the first 20 minutes, taking a 35-25 lead to the locker room as they shot 63.6 percent from the floor and held the Flyers to 33.3 percent shooting.

Much of the offensive damage in the opening half was done by McCaskill, who scored 19 points and missed just one of her nine shots during that span.

S&T came out in the second half and extended the lead to 18 in the first four-plus minutes, moving up 43-25 after a baseline jumper by McCaskill.

Lewis was able to close the gap to nine with 9:30 to play after a pair of three-pointers by Jennifer Green, then after a McCaskill free throw put the lead back at 10, Kelly Dianis converted a three-point play and then a three-pointer moments later to make it a six-point game.

With just under three minutes to go, Lauren Martens cut the S&T lead to five with a three-point play, then a turnover gave the Flyers a chance to make it a one-possession game. However, the Lady Miners got a defensive stop and Lauren Dubbert made two free throws at the other end to make it 58-51 in S&T’s favor.

Lewis made one more push as a Dianis basket with 35 seconds left drew it to within three, but Chism McEntire hit two free throws with 17 seconds to go and the Lady Miners forced two turnovers in the final 12 seconds, the last leading to a Jaime Forsberg layup to lock up the victory.

McCaskill scored a career-high 26 points for S&T while Katie Bunge finished with 13. The Lady Miners ended the game at 60.5 percent from the field, their second-best mark of the season, and outrebounded the Flyers 29-22 to overcome their 25 turnovers.

Lewis (8-6, 6-3 GLVC) was led by Dianis with 14 points.

The Lady Miners (12-2, 6-1 GLVC) return home for their next two games starting with Thursday’s 5:30 p.m. tilt with Bellarmine at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

Miners knocked off by hot-shooting Rangers

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Miners were knocked off Thursday night by a hot-shooting Wisconsin-Parkside team, dropping a 98-60 decision in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Dave Keane, who didn’t start Thursday game for the Rangers, did the bulk of the early damage for UW-Parkside by scoring 20 of his game-high 23 points in the first half. His five three-point baskets in the first 20 minutes allowed the Rangers to build an 18-point lead by the intermission. but he had a large hand in beating Missouri S&T after entering the contest.

The score was tied at four early on, then the Rangers used a 19-3 burst to built a 29-8 lead by the 10:11 mark. Much of the damage was done by Keane, a junior guard, and senior post Brad Ferstenou who had 10 points of his own in the opening half.

The Miners were able to trim the lead to 15 at 56-41 after back-to-back three-pointers from Justin Taylor, but the Rangers outscored the Miners 19-2 to build their lead to 33 points by the 11-minute mark in the second half.

Taylor led the Miners with 18 points while Taurance Townsel finished with 13. The Miners shot 44.2 percent from the field, but the Rangers hit 51.4 percent of their shots and 12 of 24 from three-point range.

The Miners (3-11, 0-6 GLVC) will face Lewis Saturday in Romeoville, Ill., in a 3 p.m. contest.

Lady Miners secure key GLVC road win in Wisconsin

KENOSHA, Wis. -- Once the Lady Miners finally got Kayla Ming under control, they took command of the game themselves and picked up a key Great Lakes Valley Conference road victory Thursday with a 65-56 win at Wisconsin-Parkside.

The victory keeps Missouri S&T (11-2, 5-1 GLVC) in first place in the GLVC West Division and extended its winning streak to six games heading into Saturday's 1 p.m. tilt against Lewis in Romeoville, Ill.

The Lady Miners opened the game by making seven of their first 11 shots to take a 16-8 lead at the 12:54 mark. However, the Rangers scored 13 unanswered points after S&T took that eight-point lead, moving ahead 21-16 before Jaime Forsberg's driving layup stopped the run almost seven minutes after S&T had last scored.

The Lady Miners gor the lead back late in the half on a basket by Katie McElrath, but the Rangers ended the half with a 29-26 lead after scoring the final four points before the intermission.

After Chism McEntire tied the game at 29 with a three-pointer, Ming scored six consecutive points on a three and a conventional three-point play to give the Rangers their biggest lead of the game. At that point, Ming, who entered the game as the conference's fourth-leading scorer, had scored a game-high 19 points.

With the score at 37-31, the Lady Miners answered with a 13-2 run, moving back in front 38-37 at the 13:52 mark on two free throws by Tamara McCaskill.

S&T missed several chances to extend its five-point lead, but after two Mackenzie Heise free throws made it 46-43, Lauren Dubbert knocked down a three-pointer with 4:19 to go to give the Lady Miners their biggest lead since early in the contest.

Nearly two minutes later, McCaskill hit an open McElrath for a layup that pushed S&T's lead to seven at 55-48.

UW-Parkside had a chance to draw closer in the final minute after a turnover by Jaime Forsberg, but Heise was called for a charging foul which then drew a technical foul from the Ranger bench. McEntire drained all four free throws with 38.5 seconds left to extend the S&T lead to eight.

McCaskill led the Lady Miners with 17 points while McEntire finished with 15, 10 of which came at the free throw in the final 38 seconds. S&T also had McElrath in double figures with 12 points and Katie Bunge with 11. Ming led all scorers in the game with 21 points, but had only two in the final 15 minutes.

Miners fall short at Missouri-St. Louis

taylor-vs-umsl.jpg
Justin Taylor

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Miners held a halftime lead Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis, but struggled for points in the second half and came away on the short end of a 60-46 decision to the Tritons.

S&T had a 23-19 lead at halftime in the low-scoring affair, but were outscored 41-23 after the break as it made only six of its 24 field goal attempts in the final 20 minutes.

The Miners had one of their best defensive halves of the season in the first half, holding the Tritons to 19 points and 29.6 percent shooting -- and without a three-pointer, to build the four-point lead at the intermission.

S&T extended the lead to five at 26-21 after a pair of free throws by Taurance Townsel at the 16:02 mark, but didn’t score for nearly four minutes after the free throws.

In the meantime, the Tritons ran off 12 straight points, moving in front after a technical foul led to two free throws by Paul Paradoski with 13:50 to go. The Tritons then pushed that lead to 11 with 7:20 to go on a three-point play by David Ward and kept it in double figures for the majority of the remaining time.

S&T was within nine at 49-40 after Aaron Hays hit a three with 4:22 left, but Paul DeChellis’ three-point play at the other end put the Triton lead back over 10 for good.

Justin Taylor led the Miners with 12 points while Aaron Hays had 11 points and Townsel 10. S&T, however, finished the day by shooting just 30.8 percent from the floor.

S&T (3-10, 0-5 GLVC) will play Thursday at Wisconsin-Parkside in a 7:30 p.m. game in Kenosha, Wis.

Lady Miners come away winners in final seconds -- again

mccaskill-vs-umsl.jpg
Tamara McCaskill

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Nobody can accuse the Missouri S&T women’s basketball team for failing to make its games exciting.

For the third time in the last two weeks, the Lady Miners needed a last second basket to get a victory, as Tamara McCaskill’s short jumper in the lane with 2.9 seconds left gave S&T a 62-60 win Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis.

The Tritons had tied the game on a three-pointer by Courtney Watts with 21 seconds to go, but the Lady Miners played for the last shot and got the ball in the hands of McCaskill, who hit a turnaround jumper in the middle of the lane for her 23rd point of the day and the victory.

After spotting the Tritons the first four points of the contest, the Lady Miners scored 12 straight to take a 12-4 lead in the early going. However, S&T went ice cold from the field after taking the lead, hitting just 11 of its 31 field goal attempts in the opening half and finding itself trailing 27-26 at the intermission.

The Lady Miners took the lead back at 31-29 just over a minute into the second half on a 15-foot jumper by Tamara McCaskill and built that lead to six 90 seconds later on another basket by McCaskill.

After the Tritons were able to erase that lead, moving in front 40-39 on Lindsey Ransome’s reverse lay-in with 11:33 to go, S&T got the advantage back when Chism McEntire drained a three from the wing and Josie Polk hit a foul line jumper to give it a 44-42 lead with 10:13 to go.

However, the Lady Miners were unable to shake the Tritons and the hosts got the lead back at the 4:17 mark after back-to-back three-pointers by Courtney Watts. The second three by Watts made it 53-50, but S&T regained the lead on its next two possessions after a timeout, with Katie Bunge’s lay-in at the 3:17 mark giving it a 54-53 lead.

S&T had a three-point lead after two Jennifer Pena free throws with 29 seconds to play, but Watts drilled the three-pointer from the top of the key eight seconds later to draw the Tritons even before McCaskill’s game winner.

McCaskill’s 23 points tied the junior forward’s career high, while McEntire was also in double figures with 13 points. After hitting just 35.5 percent of their shots in the opening half, the Lady Miners connected on 45 percent after the intermission to finish at 40 percent.

S&T also forced 24 Missouri-St. Louis turnovers and held the Tritons to 38.7 percent for the day.

The Lady Miners (10-2, 4-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will face Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday in a 5:30 p.m. game in Kenosha, Wis.

For the first time in the 34-year history of the women's basketball program at Missouri S&T, the Lady Miners find themselves in sole possession of first place.

The Lady Miners put themselves in position to take the top spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference's West Division by knocking off Southern Indiana 78-63 Saturday afternoon at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. S&T came away victorious in a rough-and-tumble contest Saturday, holding the lead from the start but having to hold off a couple of USI rally efforts.

The Lady Miners used a 10-2 run in the first half to take a 10-point lead at 22-12 after a three-pointer by Jennifer Pena. After the Eagles cut that lead down to six, S&T ran off 14 of the next 16 points to take its biggest lead of the contest of 18 points at 37-19 after Katie McElrath finished off a fast break with a lay-up. S&T led 38-27 at halftime.

The Lady Miners saw the Eagles get to within seven one more time at 50-43, but moved their advantage back out on a lay-in by Lauren Dubbert and led for the balance of the game by no less than eight points.

The Miners got out of the gate quickly Saturday afternoon, jumping out to a double digit lead in the first five minutes of play against highly touted Southern Indiana at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

However, the Screaming Eagles caught up by the intermission and then used a 15-4 run to open the second half to take control of the contest, going on to post a 73-57 victory over Missouri S&T.

The Miners ran out to a 15-4 lead by the 15:29 mark on a jumper by Justin Taylor and still had a 10-point lead three minutes later after a three-pointer by Taylor. Southern Indiana eventually erased the deficit and drew even at 25 on a pair of free throws by Norman Plummer with 5:52 to go in the half.

Taylor scored the last of his 15 points in the opening half when he drained a high-arcing three-pointer with just seconds to go in the half, putting the Miners in a 35-all deadlock with USI as the teams went to the locker room.

But while it was the Miners who got out of the gate quickly in the opening half, it was the Eagles who did so after the intermission. S&T took what turned out to be its last lead of the day on a putback by Marquis Jones to take a 37-35 lead. USI's Josh Huebner converted a layup on the next trip to tie the game again, then George Cunningham's lay-in at the 17:30 mark gave the Eagles the lead.

Cunningham's basket started a run of 12 straight points by the Eagles that was finally stopped by a jumper by Taurance Townsel, but Tyler Schnitker's three-pointer 24 seconds later gave USI a double figure lead that it would hold for the rest of the afternoon.

Taylor led all scorers in the game with 26 points, one short of his career high, while Aaron Hays also reached double figures with 10 points. S&T shot 48.1 percent in the opening half, but made only 31 percent of its shots after the break to finish at 39.3 percent.

The Miners held the Eagles to 43.6 percent shooting, but were outrebounded by a 41-28 margin and were guilty of 15 turnovers.

Missouri S&T (3-9, 0-4 GLVC) will be idle until next Saturda
