EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The University of Missouri-Rolla men's cross country team wrapped up its season Saturday with a seventh place finish at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional held at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

UMR, which entered the meet ranked seventh in the Great Lakes region, finished with a team score of 184, six points behind Saginaw Valley State. The top four teams in the meet -- Grand Valley State, Wayne State (Mich.), Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky -- earned the region's automatic berths to the NCAA Division II Championships Nov. 17 in Joplin, Mo.

The Miners' highest finisher was Joffroi Holcombe, who ended up 13th overall but two spots shy of making the national meet as an individual. Holcombe posted a time of 32:12 in the 10-kilometer race, which was 12 seconds in back of 10th place finisher Chad Roberts of Tiffin, who had the second-highest finish among those from teams that did not finish among the top four overall.

Holcombe's finish among the top 15 at the meet earned him all-region honors.
