KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Lady Miner volleyball dropped the first match of its weekend road trip Friday night, as it fell at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside by a 3-1 count.
UMR won the opening game of the match by a 30-26 score, but the Rangers came back and won three games that followed by scores of 30-25, 30-22 and 30-24.
The Lady Miners won the first game despite having its fewest number of kills -- nine -- in any of the four games. UMR finished the night with a .172 hitting percentage, but the Rangers hit at a .236 clip in the contest.
Leandra Pelae led the Lady Miners with 16 kills on the evening, while Ashlyn Balensiefer had 34 assists and Bridget Williams recorded a team-high 10 digs. UMR had 8.5 blocks in the contest as well, with Pelae and Lynsey Jorgenson leading the way with four assisted blocks apiece.
The Lady Miners will finish their weekend trip Saturday with a 3 p.m. match against Lewis in Romeoville, Ill.
