UMR senior Joffroi Holcombe has been named as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's "Runner of the Week" in men's cross country following his winning performance Saturday in the Miner Invitational.

Holcombe navigated a very wet five-kilometer course in a time of 15:19 to help lead the Miners to a second-place finish in the seven-team event. He outpaced second-place finisher Jaime Villa Zapatero of Drury by nine seconds to repeat as the individual champion in the annual event.

It is the second time in Holcombe's career that he has earned a weekly award from the GLVC, as he was also a recipient during the 2006 season.

UMR will compete at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin Saturday.
