LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Competing with a full squad for the first time this season, the UMR women's cross country team came away with a fifth place finish in the Arkansas-Little Rock Invitational Saturday.
UMR posted a total of 124 points in a meet where the top four teams came from the Division I ranks. The host school won the meet, followed by Central Arkansas, Memphis and Arkansas State, which finished just 10 points ahead of the Lady Miners.
Dana Narconis was UMR's top finisher with a 23rd place showing, covering the five-kilometer course in 21:44. Rebecca McNally was right behind her in 21:47, while Kierra Handley was 29th in 22:44.
UMR's contingent was rounded out by Teresa Conley in 30th place in 22:58 and Samantha Schussele in 32nd in 23:10.
The Lady Miners will be idle next week and will compete in the Rhodes Twilight Invitational Oct. 6 in Memphis, Tenn.
