SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Only on rare occasions does one see a soccer game where a team does not allow a shot.
But on Saturday, the Lady Miners prevented Oakland City from getting a shot at the net and came away with a 2-0 win on the first day of the Drury Invitational.
UMR outshot the Oaks 13-0 in the game and got a goal in each half to pick up its second straight victory.
Marci Byrd got the Lady Miners on the scoreboard just 4:20 into play when she converted a penalty kick. Erin Rouse extended the lead in the early minutes of the second half when she scored an unassisted goal from right in front of the net.
A trio of goalkeepers -- Catherine Swift, Kelsey Kurilla and Kristen Hoelzer -- combined for the shutout.
UMR will face Upper Iowa Sunday at 1 p.m.
