JOPLIN, Mo. – UMR’s track and field teams sent several individuals to Joplin Thursday in one of the last attempts to improve or meet qualification marks for the NCAA Division II Championships later this month.
Unfortunately for those taking part in the meet, none of the competitors were able to improve their status and will take one last crack at it Saturday at Emporia State.
UMR had winning performances from Becca Kueny in the javelin with a throw of 128-4, while
Chris Carsten in the hammer throw with a throw of 166-feet. Second place performances came from Wendy Moore in the 800-meters in 2:17.35 and Kal-El Waters-Jones in the triple jump at 44-6, while Carsten was third in the shot put with a throw of 52-1 1/4.
Pole vaulters Peter Hollenbeck and Jared Anders finished fourth and sixth, respectively, with clearances of 15-3 3/4 and 14-9 1/2.
Jamel Sims posted a hand-held time of 13.96 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.
