Brandon Cogan has earned a second all-region award for the 2007 season as he was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-Great Lakes region second team for the recently completed campaign.

Cogan, a freshman during the past year at UMR, was selected last week to the Daktronics All-Great Lakes region first team for the program's inaugural year.

Cogan was selected to the team as an infielder after being chosen as a utility player on the Daktronics squad. Cogan was also named as a utility player on Great Lakes Valley Conference's all-league first team after finishing the season as the Miners' leading hitter and as one of the team's top starting pitchers for much of the 2007 campaign.

Cogan split time between pitching and second base this season and ended the 2007 season with a .351 average and 13 runs batted in. On the mound, he was 3-2 with a 3.34 earned run average in 35 innings of work; he also posted a shutout in a 1-0 victory over Lewis in late March.

The Miners finished the 2007 season with a 20-27 record.
