Lady Miners' Tucker named as GLVC Player of Week

For the second week in a row, a member of the University of Missouri-Rolla softball team has earned the conference's weekly award.

UMR sophomore outfielder Emily Tucker was named Monday as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's "Player of the Week” recipient after hitting .667 in four games to help the Lady Miners extend their current winning streak to eight games.

Tucker went five-of-nine in UMR’s April 10 doubleheader sweep at Lincoln with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in. On Sunday at Bellarmine, Tucker was five-of-eight on the day with a three-run homer to start the scoring in UMR’s 7-4 opening game win; she finished the day with six runs batted in.

Tucker drove in a run in the first inning in each of the last three UMR wins last week.

For the season, Tucker is batting .406 with with two home runs and 24 runs batted in for the Lady Miners, who are 23-10 on the season and in third place in the GLVC with an 11-5 record.

UMR hosts Southern Indiana Saturday at the UMR Softball Field at noon.
