Miner track team sits 14th in first D-II power rankings

The University of Missouri-Rolla men's track team is ranked 14th in the first power rankings of the 2007 season as conducted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

UMR, which has had competitors in three meets this season and has two individuals who have met NCAA qualifying marks, is the third-highest ranked team among those in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Lewis University is ranked third, behind Ashland and Adams State, while Southern Illinois Edwardsville is ranked ninth.

Those two schools, UMR and Saint Joseph's (No. 18) are the only GLVC schools that are ranked this week.

The Miners will be idle from competition this week and will take part in the Radio Shack Invitational at Missouri Southern on Feb. 2-3.
