KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The UMR men's soccer team got a second half goal from Brandon Moore to salvage a 1-1 tie in its regular season finale Friday afternoon at Truman State.
Moore scored an unassisted goal at the 58:47 mark to even the score of a game in which the Miners controlled after the intermission. However, Moore's goal turned out to be the only one of the final 45 minutes of regulation time and 20 minutes of overtime even though UMR outshot the Bulldogs 16-3 during that stretch.
The Miners (9-8-2) held a 21-9 advantage in shots for the game and got 12 on goal. Mike McNamee ended up making one save for the afternoon.
Truman's goal came from Matt McCarthy at the 12:26 mark in the first half.
UMR will face Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday in an opening round game in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Game time will be at noon in Kenosha, Wis.
