Lady Miners land in tenth at GLVC Championships

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The UMR women's cross country finished in tenth place Saturday at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships held at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

UMR's top finish came from senior Laura Ruf, who finished 42nd overall with a time of 24:12 on the six-kilometer course. Silvey Britton, who was competing right down the road from her hometown of O'Fallon, Ill., finished 54th in 24:38 and Wendy Moore was 58th in 24:47.

The Lady Miners' top five was rounded out by Kylee Hyzer in 67th place with a time of 25:13 and Dana Narconis in 77th place with a time of 25:32.

Wisconsin-Parkside won the women's competition with a score of 39 points to easily outdistance Southern Indiana. USI did have the individual champion in Allie Shafer who posted a time of 21:46.

UMR's next meet will be at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 4 at Wisconsin-Parkside.
