LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lady Miners broke a scoring drought late in the second half Sunday, but unfortunately, a goal by Bellarmine's Jaime Halas with 2:35 to play in regulation broke a tie to send the Knights to a 2-1 win over UMR in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

UMR fell behind early when Halas scored on a shot from the right side of the field and was at a deficit in terms of the shots (11-3 in BU's favor), but picked up its play after the intermission.

Bellarmine had only one more shot than UMR overall and on goal in the final 45 minutes and the Lady Miners were able to get their first since the season opener with just under 10 minutes to play. Janine Einhellig headed home Erin Rouse's long crossing pass at 80:31 to draw the Lady Miners even.

However, Halas got the game-winner for the Knights just under seven minutes later, as she took a pass over the top of the defense and pushed it past UMR goalkeeper Brittany Parker.

Parker made four saves in goal for UMR, who fell to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in GLVC play heading into its first game at its new home facility Wednesday. The Lady Miners wil host Southern Illinois Edwardsville in a 6 p.m. contest.
