ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Lady Miners' struggle to put the ball into the net continued Sunday, as Ashland held UMR scoreless for the fifth straight game in a 3-0 victory.

The Eagles got the only goal they would need at the 26:19 mark when Caitlin Carducci took a long shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and landed in the net. Ashland added to its lead about ten minutes later when Kelly Usher scored the first of her two goals by heading in a cross.

Ashland controlled play for much of the first half as it outshot UMR 8-2 and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks. The Lady Miners did outshoot the Eagles 9-8 in the final 45 minutes and got four of the shots on goal, but none of the efforts got past goalkeeper Marie Supanich.

Usher scored her second goal at the 68:15 mark when she beat UMR's Catherine Swift in a one-on-one situation.

Swift finished with two saves before turning the contest over to Brittany Parker for the final 18 minutes.

The Lady Miners, now 0-6 overall (0-1 GLVC), return to Great Lakes Valley Conference action Friday at Northern Kentucky (4-2, 2-2 GLVC)
